Project Summary
As a Chinese proverb says, “I forget what I hear, I remember what I see and I understand what I do”,our partnership aims to encourage our pupils to learn and develop their knowledge and skills for real life. Children learn from examples. If you teach them something, you have to follow the process. Otherwise you will set a bad example for them, your teaching won’t be effective. If you follow what you are preaching, they will follow you without any hesitation. It is not only for the finance, in all other things they feel parents and teachers have to be an example. So our project includes not only students but also teachers and parents.
Our objectives are: develop linguistic competences for pupils in 6 participant schools; develop financial literacy so that students understand what is money, how to plan a budget, controlling cash flow; develop habits of saving, responsible and rational spending of all resources at their disposal; encourage the children to take the initiative in their families, among friends, in the classroom, in the community; develop the skills of reading, writing and expression; develop entrepreneurial spirit, strengthen self-confidence, enthusiasm; encourage children and motivate them to share goods with the needy and volunteering; develop IT competences in order to use ICT in a safe and responsible manner, as a tool for the creation of new values, learning and collaboration; allow the children to see how they can create new values, to learn the ways in which they can acquire their own work and earn a living; develop love for learning and work; develop cooperating skills and the collaboration with European schools; encourage kids with special needs, those whose parents left abroad and low income kids to get involved in projects; promote the national identity, values and traditions, tolerance, cultural and social differences.
Our main activities:cooperation and collaboration via postcards, social networks, talks during the 6 meetings, using English as a working and communication language; organization of video conferences using socialization platforms to fix each mobility’s details -development of learning activities in schools, locations used for workshops, seminars, exhibitions, with entrepreneurship and financial themes, cultural topics about our traditions, involving tasks of other curricular areas (Art, Languages, Geography, History) and using modern techniques, as portfolios, activity diaries, map minding, brainstorming, learning through outdoor activities and research; pupils and teachers’ search for and use of helpful websites, correspondence e-mails, educational platforms, on-line dictionaries, web 2.0 tools to get information, to create educational materials; organization of seminars and workshops during the meetings and the mobility activities, where teachers and pupils involved will learn about other educational systems and cultures, improve language skills; development of social and cultural activities during our meetings; gathering of information in activities to create, at the end of the project, a guide of good practices.
To ensure the project success, we’ll use methods like: establishing objectives and desired impact, activities and their schedule, organizing partners’ responsibilities, the project publicity through conferences, local meetings with teachers, mass-media, achieving the management of time and budget by time sheets, budgeting each activity, reports, monitoring and evaluating the activities’ quality by reports, portfolios, activity diaries, direct and indirect feedback, organizing meetings (seminars,workshops,exhibitions), disseminating activities by mass-media, methodological meetings, project materials distributed to other teachers and sustainability by maintaining the project corners, our project website visibility and workbooks published in future because of this experience. Our project results (conferences, website, portfolios, lessons scenarios) will contribute in this respect.
The project has impact on pupils by a stronger awareness in lifelong learning, developed linguistic skills, awareness of cultural diversity, raised intercultural understanding, through avoiding prejudices and stereotyping, a better interest and motivation to study on cross-curricular, improved IT and social skills for problem solving, critical thinking, team working, group dynamics, work ethic, responsibility, improved creativity skills, sense of accepting and self-confidence, for kids with special educational needs, increased capability of being employable, improved social positive attitudes. It has impact on teachers through improved teaching knowledge and quality of teaching practice, an openness to European culture and organizations, improved IT and linguistic skills for following activities and on institutions, by improved rate of early leaving pupils and absenteeism, raised school profile, increased rate of pupils’ enrollment into high school, improved education process.
