Masarykova zakladni skola a materska skola Velka Bystrice is a primary school for pupils aged from 6 to 15. The school provides basic levels of education (ISCED level 1 and 2) in a 9-year curriculum. The school is mid-sized with 390 pupils, 23 teachers and 9 other staff. The school is located in the centre of a small town of Velka Bystrice. About 70 % of pupils are local from the town and 30 % of pupils commute to school daily from surrounding villages. The school is located in a rural/suburban area only 10 km from the city of Olomouc in Eastern Moravia. Most of the parents work in industrial factories, in trade and in agriculture. The school is a state school that contributes to the education system in Olomouc region and provides the necessary support to students by organizing additional tutorials for the best of them and for students with learning difficulties or special needs. We are highly focused in language and communication skills development - including mother tongue, English, German and Russian. The school is well equipped with new technologies and we are currently looking to develop some cross curricular activities, such as media literacy education, information literacy education, personal development, entrepreneurship education or character education. The school offers various extracurricular activities. The example of these activities are folk and modern dances, art and crafts, environmental and outdoor education, language classes, math and logic classes, science for young children and many various sport activities. Velka Bystrice School is a school focused on healthy life style and sports with great sporting facilities. The school has been very active in local and international partnerships with education institutions in recent years. The school is also a very important institution in local community life - we organize or take part in many local activities for citizens.
Our organization is a grouping of schools that have an ambitious project which includes two specific units/areas for autistic children. We really believe in an inclusive school where everybody is seen as an active member apt to integrate our society. We are a dynamic and active school in order to meet aspirations and ambitions of our 1200 students, aged between 3 and 18, as well as their families and adults learners who come to us. With all non-higher education levels contemplated in the Portuguese educational system, from pre-school to secondary school, traditionally supervised for prosecuting studies, our organization has significantly wagered in vocational education in recent years as a way to respond to expectations of their students, often considerably lower. We also have made a huge effort to update our curriculum, our teachers and our administrative and operational staff to meet the aspirations and expectations not only of students, but of the entire community in which we are inserted. Our institution is located in a region of Portugal which is social and economically in disadvantage, being a county between the river and the mountain and near of the coast of the country, with one of the most extensive forest areas. The unemployment rate is among the highest in the country that are associated with low literacy and school enrolment rates (six years of studies, mostly). In addition to the services that absorb the overwhelming majority of the employed population, the most common economic activity is agriculture, and many families made this type of farming their livelihood. Rates of migration to nearby cities (especially for Porto) and emigration to Europe are historically significant and have increased in recent years, reflecting the economic environment contributing to the aging of the region. To participate in programs and projects from Europe as this one is an important tool to motivate our students and also to promote their European dimension and citizenship.
Akçansa Fatih Sultan Mehmet, a public school, is situated in the Büyükçekmece territory of Istanbul close Istanbul. Primary school Vezica is a non-profit state school in Rijeka, Croatia which provides primary education for children aged 7 to 14 (grades 1 to 8). It is situated in Rijeka, Croatia, not far from the town centre. Currently there are 381 students (19 classes) from different social backgrounds, and 69 employees, of which 52 are teachers. Classes of compulsory subjects are organised in the morning. In the early afternoon children have optional subjects such as Italian/German/French, Computer Science, Religion, Project Citizen and Debate. Also they have many activities like: singing choir, sport (gymnastics, athletics, basketball, handball, football ), visual arts, robotics, programming, citizenship education, drama, children's forum, literary group, recitation group, etc. Within the school there is a Primary School for Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance (101 students, 15 classes). The school vision and mission is based on three guiding principals: Knowledge, Strength and Beauty. Our mission is to provide learning that will fulfill those three guiding principles and enable children to develop in well-rounded individuals. Through the project we aim to develop the efficient and transparent school management, develop digitally competent teachers more prepared to incorporate innovation into their teaching practice and digitally competent pupils more prepared to continue their education and be more competitive in the labor market.
The comprehensive school "Carducci-Paolillo" was founded in the school year 2015-2016, following a merger of complexes including kindergarten, with the spring section, primary school, secondary school level for a total of 1359 students. Pooling experiences and work in synergy proved complex initially for the teachers of the various complexes. The Comprehensive School welcomes pupils aged between 2 and 14 years. It includes fact, a kindergarten (11 sections), a primary school (33 classes) and a junior high school (17 classes) and the eventual activation of a Spring Section. Altogether 1311 pupils are enrolled of which 50 are "foreign" (mostly from Eastern Europe, but also extra-Community), 67 disabled, DSA 16 and about 130 BES. A consumer varied, thus corresponding to a school that welcomes and values all kinds of "differences" and seeks daily and often painfully, to realize the full inclusion of all pupils. The school, in recent decades, has significant experience educational, educational, professional and developed a culture of change; this made it possible to pursue quality of service objectives and achieve significant goals. 1st Primary School Cakovec is the oldest and biggest primary school in the region. It consists of the central school located in the centre of Cakovec and two district schools in Novo Selo Rok and Kristanovec, villages about 10 kilometers away from the town. The education of pupils at our school is divided into two educational cycles: classroom teaching (for pupils from 7 to 11 years of age) and subject teaching (for pupils from 11 to 15 years of age).
Besides the regular classes, pupils can expanddevelop their knowledge, skills and attitudes in additional classes and various extracurricular activities: singing choir, sport, visual arts, dance, robotics, programming, citizenship education, drama, children's forum, literary group, recitation group, etc. Classes are organized according to the regular program but also for about around sixty pupils with mild intellectual disabilities, reading, writing or dyscalculia, pupils with autism and Down's syndrome.
Pupils with disabilities are integrated into regular classes and the curriculum is individually adapted to their needs. Professional associates counselor, psychologist and speech therapist) regularly help pupils in individual meetings in overcoming their obstacles. There are appromiximately eighty employees at the school: 5 professional associates, 60 teachers and 13 people in administrative and assisting jobs. There are specialized classrooms at the school, two gyms, a library and a big yard with a sport court.
The school is very well equipped with various teaching aids: professional literature, sport and other equipment, computers, projectors, smart boards, tablets and Internet access. There are also two interactive classrooms equipped with smart TVs, interactive Samsung Smart School classroom with 30 tablets, iPad lab, Lego robots, Apple Sphero and Fischertechnik robots.
School employees regularly professionally develop through various seminars and conferences at a regional, state and international level. The sustained quality of the teaching process is displayed in numerous successes of pupils in various competitions, awards and recognitions that teachers get for their work and in numerous professional and scientific articles our employees publish in Croatia and abroad.
The school has a great cooperation with the parents who are actively included in various activities, but also with the local community and representatives of local authorities. The school is often highlighted as the regional leader in primary education. Activities carried out at the school are regularly followed by the media at a regional and state level. Teachers and pupils actively participate in different local, regional, state and international projects.
The school takes part in the e-Schools project: Establishing the system of development of digitally mature schools, which is financed by the EU, and conducted by the Ministry of Science and Education and Carnet with associates. Through the project we aim to develop the efficient and transparent school management, develop digitally competent teachers more prepared to incorporate innovation into their teaching practice and digitally competent pupils more prepared to continue their education and be more competitive in the labor market. The school participated in Erasmus+ KA2 and eTwinning projects.
Through continuous international cooperation we develop the openness of employees, pupils and parents to all nationalities and religions, we learn about new traditions and cultures, we exchange experiences and examples of good practice with colleagues across Europe. We regularly encourage the development of digital literacy and skills in our pupils which is why we actively participate in celebrating the Safer Internet Day, Hour of Code, EU Code Week etc. The ICT teacher Ivana Ružić is the ambassador of the EC initiative to promote programming EU Code Week. We won the second place in the world in the Safety and mobility for all competition by developing a campaign in the local community in order to raise the awareness of the importance of our actions in traffic and to develop the feeling of responsibility for ourselves and people around us.
In obligatory and elective classes and extracurricular activities we regulary develop innovation, creativity, cooperative learning and team work. We continuously encourage pupils to be active citizens and to observe their surroundings, identify and solve problems, take initiative. Through various activities we aim to strengthen responsibility, communication skills, leadership skills, develop creative thinking, critical thinking, metacongition and nonconformity in pupils. We offer our pupils the possibility to explore new areas of interest, develop experiential learning and accomplish the transfer of knowledge. It is our mission to develop the lifelong learning skills and prepare our pupils for further education and the future labor market.
